FRIDAY DUB ROUND-UP: PATS TAKE OT WIN AT P.A.

PRINCE ALBERT, SK — Tanner Brown’s third goal of the season at 3:52 of the overtime frame gave the Regina Pats a 4-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre. The win ended the Pats’ three-game losing streak and helped the Pats end 2022 on a high note.

Easton Armstrong (13th), Borya Valis (14th), and Alexander Suzdalev (21st) scored first-period markers to give the Pats a 3-0 lead which they carried into the third period. The Raiders stormed back in the final 20 minutes with goals from Carson Latimer (10th), Landon Kosior (12th), and Gabe Ludwig (fifth) to help send the game into overtime.

Brown capped off a three-point game with his first career overtime winner giving Regina a much needed two points, with a rematch against Prince Albert scheduled for January 1 at 4:00 p.m.

Drew Sim finished strong, especially in the overtime period where he stopped 10 shots and blocked 41 of 44 shots directed his way for the win. Max Hildebrand stopped 25 of 29 Pats shots in the Raiders loss.

WINNIPEG – Daniel Hauser earned a 23-save shutout as the Winnipeg Ice defeated the Saskatoon Blades 2-0 on Friday.

Evan Friesen and Ty Nash scored for Western Conference-leading Winnipeg (27-5-0).

Goaltender Ethan Chadwick stopped 22 shots for Saskatoon (25-6-0), which sits a nearby third in the conference.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Lucas Ciona scored two goals as Seattle (26-4-1-1) won for the 11th time in 12 games, defeating Kelowna (12-17-3). Jordan Gustafson and Ethan Mittelsteadt also scored for the Thunderbirds.

EDMONTON — Jayden Grubbe had a goal and two assists as Red Deer (25-6-1-3) dominated lowly Edmonton (4-31-1). Rhett Stoesser had 17 saves as the Rebels won their third straight to be tied atop the Eastern Conference with Winnipeg at 54 points.

EVERETT, WA. — James Stefan had a goal and two assists as Portland (25-4-2-1) handed Everett (16-16-1) its fourth straight loss. Jan Spunar had 31 saves as the Winterhawks won the eighth of their last nine games.

MOOSE JAW, SASK. — Zakhar Polshakov had a goal and three assists as Brandon (14-16-4) pummelled Moose Jaw (21-13-0). Brett Hyland, Nolan Ritchie and Roger McQueen each chipped in a goal and two assists amid the Wheat Kings’ 11 unanswered goals after going down 2-0 in the opening 1:09.

SWIFT CURRENT, SASK. – Grayson Burzynski scored the game-winning goal 11:59 into the third period as Swift Current (15-15-0-1) picked up its third straight win, topping Lethbridge (20-14-0-1). Broncos goaltender Reid Dyck stopped 26 shots.

KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Dylan Sydor scored two goals, Daylan Kuefler had a goal and two assists and Kamloops (21-6-3-2) won its seventh straight contest, defeating Prince George (14-16-3-0). The Cougars have dropped eight in a row.

VICTORIA – Jaden Lipinski scored the shootout winner as Vancouver (14-16-4-2) narrowly edged Victoria (8-24-3-1). Ty Halaburda scored as the first shooter in the shootout for the Giants.

SPOKANE, WA. – Berkly Catton scored the game-winning goal 11:43 into the third period as Spokane (7-24-0-2) beat Tri-City (15-16-1-1). Jake Gudelj also scored for the Chiefs, while Dawson Cowan had 32 saves.
