57’s CLINCH DIVISION PENNANT WITH WEEKEND SWEEP OF RED SOX

The Swift Current 57’s overcame a 3-1 deficit to beat the Regina Red Sox 6-5 and clinch the 2017 Eastern Division Pennant. It was Swift Current’s sixth straight win and third consecutive victory over the Red Sox.

Keil Krumwiede and Blake Adams led the Swift Current charge with home runs. Thomas DeBonville scored three runs in the 57’s victory.

For the Red Sox fifth year veteran Jordan Schulz had a single and a double. He also drove in his 43rd run of the season.  

Dalton England, the senior from North Dakota State, made his ninth start for Regina. He pitched 6.2 innings in the loss allowing four runs and nine hits.

Reliever Sean Chandler earned his second win in 13 appearances for the 57’s.  In addition to his homer, the versatile Krumwiede also picked up his fifth save of the season.

The Red Sox round out the regular season with a Sunday afternoon matinee against the Melville Millionaires. It is fan appreciate day at Currie Field and the Red Sox will have a big screen scoreboard for extra entertainment. First pitch is set for 2 pm.
