Game 1: Swift Current 3 at Regina 2
The Swift Current 57’s swept both ends of a doubleheader in Regina against the Red Sox on Friday.
In game one Swift Current got home runs from Keil Krumwiede and Brett Esau to defeat the Red Sox 3-2. Blake Adams also helped the 57’s cause with two hits.
Northern Oklahoma freshman Griffin Keller was the only Red Sox player to have a multi-hit game against Swift Current pitching.
Swift Current sent Matt Michalski to hill to face Regina in game one. His five innings of five hit ball were good enough for the win. Keil Krumwiede, not only hit a homer in the game, he picked up his fourth save of 2017 by tossing two shutout innings of relief.
Austin Alarid took the loss after pitching 5.2 innings.
Game 2: Swift Current 7 at Regina 3
In game 2 of the twin bill, the 57’s jumped out to 4-0 lead on route to a 7-3 victory over the Red Sox. The double header drew 1,173 fans to Currie Field.
After the two-game set, Swift Current became the first Eastern Division team to crack the 30-win mark as they now sit at 31-15. Regina dipped to 28-18.
Matt Bondarchuk chipped in two hits, four RBI, a run and a stolen base in the Swift Current win.
Regina’s Aden Campbell had a hit and a RBI, his 48th of the season in defeat. Junior Fermin added his 19th stolen base of the season.
James Smith raised his record to 6-1 with the Swift Current win.
Will Moore got roughed up in this outing pitching five innings with seven runs and six hits and four walks.
