Commentary: Time After Time

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)

It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: These are the moments you live for. The Florida Panthers host the New York Rangers Tuesday night in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Final and their playoff lives pretty much hang in the balance.

Since dropping Game 1, New York has won the last two – both in overtime – by primarily beating the Panthers at their own game; bullying them out of the rink.

What are these Florida Panthers made of? We will find out in a matter of hours.

Next the great: The CFL’s B.C. Lions made waves all across the country on Monday by announcing rap star 50 Cent will perform at their Week 2 home opener against Calgary on June 15.

This follows up last season’s home-opener performance by fellow rap icon L.L. Cool J.

It got fans buzzing! Shortly after, the Lions further announced they’re opening the upper deck due to ticket demand.

Not sure what Lions owner Amar Doman is using as a magic formula on the wet coast but if he bottled and sold it, he’d be a millionaire.

Oh wait …

And finally the ugly: It’s certainly not over for the Edmonton Oilers but one of these times it’s going to cost them.

The Oilers built up a 2-0 lead after the first period against Dallas in Game 3 on Monday, only to take their foot off the gas and eventually lose 5-3. They now trail the series 2-1.

They blew leads in multiple games last series against Vancouver but got away with it.

Say it with me: the regular season is for lesson learning, but the playoffs is when it counts.

Dallas is not Vancouver. In fact they were my pick to win the Stanley Cup.

They don’t seem to get burned by the same lessons time after time.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

Somewhere along the line NHL hockey left me in the dust.
I don’t understand how several million dollars worth of hockey players can skate around for SIXTEEN minutes between shots on goal.
The experts call it great defensive hockey, I call it disgusting.

Well start with the fact you actually may be to dumb to understand what’s happening. It’s a fast game that has evolved to cover 200 feet of ice. The b.s of hanging around the red line and Defensemen behind the opposing Goalies net have been over since 1995. What the players make for salary does not concern you. Entertainers play concerts, tell jokes, act in movies – and what they get paid is what they get paid. I’d encourage you to switch to the PWHL – it’s sloooooow, not sophisticated, crap goaltending and pylon defenseman, and maybe if you virtue… Read more »

Yeh Tracey, I guess I’m just to dumb to enjoy NHL games but can I have your permission to watch Memorial Cup games?

Fake tough guy needs to feel empowered to mock belittle attempt to bully. Too bad those PWHL women would out skate your ass all over the ice. Go do something productive in your life besides trolling around websites pretending to be something. Honestly this website would have more potential without this yahoo and his useless comments.
