Commentary: Catching Up
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s time for Monday’s wrap of the weekend, but not necessarily what you might think …
For me, I’ve tried to limit my live sporting activities to one per week but that’s actually kind of tough in sports-mad South Florida where there’s not just something going on every night; there are multiple high level games going on every night!
I’d been meaning to check in on our old friend Duron Carter this Fall. He’s the receivers coach at Cardinal Gibbons High School – home of the 3-time 5A State champion Chiefs – and they were home Friday night to the rival Calvary Eagles.
So I did get caught up with the former CFL’er and it was a treat to watch him guide the kids on the sideline. Somebody who saw my photos said Duron looks “happier than ever” and I’d have to agree.
Shouldn’t that be the goal? I know it is for me.
Then Saturday, after watching the Roughriders beat Ottawa 29-16 on CFL+, I was off to catch the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers in a surprisingly entertaining NHL preseason game that evening. The Cats came back from a 4-1 deficit to win 5-4 in overtime on a goal by Jesper Boqvist.
Sunday was spent simply watching and dissecting NFL football, and its usual thrills and spills.
Today at Noon ET we’ll convene on the RP Show to discuss it all from the CFL, NHL and NFL.
And wouldn’t you know it, tonight the Miami Dolphins host the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football while across town the Florida Panthers welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Cats’ home preseason finale.
One live game per week? This week we’re getting it out of the way early.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 4 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)
