Commentary: The Good, The Great, The Ugly
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: We wound up four days and two NHL games here in Chicago last night with the Carolina Hurricanes beating the Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime at United Center.
It wasn’t quite the same energetic vibe as Saturday’s home win over Vegas but it was still very cool just the same.
Connor Bedard was held pointless but spent some time in the sin bin. It was a really bad hooking call which came moments over Connor was seen berating the referees for a missed call on him.
He’ll learn.
Next the great: The Roughriders picked the coldest day of the year to announce that fierce rival Andrew Harris – a 4-time Grey Cup champ with the Bombers, Lions and Argos – has joined the staff as running backs coach.
This move is all kinds of great but my first thought was, “What are all the haters gonna say now?”
Harris was famously nailed with a positive PED test and suspended by the league and we crowed about that so much on Rider Radio that the Bombers actually called and asked us to lay off.
I did, but was pretty much the only one. Now I’m long gone and they’re all still there!
Time to move on I guess.
And finally the ugly: It doesn’t matter where you are right now. It’s cold. Minus-27 with the windchill here in Illinois, in fact.
And hopefully wherever you are, you’re managing to stay warm and making the best of it.
As we get set to depart Chicago for home in Florida, those Blackhawks alumni we met the other night are blowing up my phone today joking that they’re experiencing “Regina weather”.
Hey … it’s a great place to be known for.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
