Thunder Fall To Hilltops

The Regina Thunder came up just short Saturday night in their battle with the Saskatoon Hilltops, losing 18-15 in front of over 2,000 fans at Mosaic Stadium.
The Thunder and Hilltops now both sit with a 3-1 regular season record and are tied for 1st place in the PFC.
In this version of Saskatchewan’s junior football rivalry, Saskatoon led 11-5 at the half. Regina stormed back and took a 12-11 lead in the third quarter when quarterback Adam Mosher connected with Lucas DI Iorio for the Thunder’s lone major of the evening. Saskatoon added a short rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter to seal the 18-15 win.
Peter Boersch led the Thunder ground game with 27 carries for 141 yards. Mosher was 16 of 35 for 163 yards and a touchdown in the passing department. His favourite target was Ben Walz who made 8 catches for 83 yards.
On defence, linebacker Kenten Effa had 5 defensive tackles, 4 assists and half a tackle for a loss. Defensive back Lorrin LeBlanc added 4 defensive tackles and a quarterback sack.
The Thunder special teams were led by Marcus Butz who added 3 special team tackle assists to his 4 defensive tackles.
Next game for the Regina Thunder will be Sunday, September 14 when the Winnipeg Rifles visit Leibel Field. Kickoff is set for 1pm.
