It’s Random Thoughts Day on this Commentary …

#1 – Grey Cup revelry is in full swing in Winnipeg. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will meet the Montreal Alouettes in the 112th Grey Cup Sunday in Winnipeg. The Riders are favored by every sportsbook, but the line is different at each one.

For instance, DraftKings has Saskatchewan listed as 3.5-point favorites while OddsShark has them at just 1.5.

It’s definitely the very last thing on Rider coach Corey Mace’s mind, but fun to talk about. I think we can all agree it’s going to be a close game.

#2 – Ever wonder how they come up with this stuff? DraftKings chief oddsmaker Johnny Avello will join us on the RP Show today live from Las Vegas to give us some tricks of the trade, and also talk NFL & NHL.

#3 – Speaking of … we’re a month into the NHL season and it’s been anything but boring. Connor Bedard carries an 8-game point streak into tonight’s Chicago home game versus New Jersey. As the latest NHL ad campaign points out, the Golden Era is now.

But somebody forgot to tell that to the Calgary Flames. They lost 3-2 in St. Louis last night and the insiders say there’s talk the Flames are in trade talks to unload star forward Nazem Kadri.

Is this the earliest in NHL history that a team has raised the white flag?

And #4 – The NFL season has been no less zany. We’re just past the midway point and the standings show the Colts & Broncs atop the standings. Absolutely NO ONE had those two as the surprise teams this season.

I guess it’s a good time to be a horse.
