Friday Commentary: Maybe Next Year

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …
#1 – Well if that was a playoff game, the Dallas Cowboys aren’t gonna last long. In the opener to the NFL’s Week 14, America’s Team was motorboated 44-30 by the Lions in Detroit on Thursday. It was a must-win game for both, and Dallas fell flat.
Dak Prescott was sacked five times and threw two picks, while the Lions looked like the team who won 15 games last season.
For us Cowboys fans, it’s “Maybe next year”.
#2 – With all its ups and downs, this NHL season should be sponsored by Calaway Park. Or Tums.
Pretty sure I didn’t have any picks right on Thursday’s 10 game slate. The Oilers erupted for nine goals in a home win over Seattle, the Flames upset Minnesota in the Saddledome, and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers fell 2-1 in OT against Tampa Bay for their fifth straight home loss. Steven Stamkos scored the winner, his 53rd career against the Panthers, the most by any player against Florida in franchise history.
Oh, and league-leading Colorado got spanked 6-3 on Long Island.
Good luck picking a Stanley Cup favorite right now!
And #3 – The only surprise about the Roughriders re-signing Grey Cup MVP quarterback Trevor Harris on Thursday is that it’s for only one year. I guess at age 39, he’s taking it one year at a time and I certainly get that.
Saskatchewan should be set up for winning for quite some time, especially with 39-year old head coach Corey Mace at the helm.
It feels like it really doesn’t matter who’s wearing the jerseys — Mace is going to get the most out of them.
Have a nice weekend.
