COORS LIGHT RECAP: WHEATIES TOP PATS IN SHOOTOUT

BRANDON, MB – The Regina Pats earned a single point on Saturday night in a 3-2 shootout loss in Brandon to the Wheat Kings.

In the first, the Pats opened the scoring just 3:53 in. Kyle Walker picked up his first of the year and first with the Pats on a point shot from the left point to make it 1-0. The Wheat Kings responded on the powerplay three minutes later and it was a 1-1 game after 20 minutes.

In the second, Brandon scored the lone goal four minutes in, Cole Reinhardt tipped home a cross-ice feed to make it 2-1 and that was the score after two periods.

In the third, the Pats found a tying goal with 3:25 left, Kyle Walker picked up his second of the night, second of the year to make it 2-2 and the game went to overtime.

The extra period solved nothing, and in the shootout, the Wheat Kings scored twice and took the extra point in a 3-2 final score.

The Pats outshot the Wheat Kings 33-28. The powerplay was 0/2 and the penalty kill 4/5. Kyle Walker led the offence with two goals while Dean McNabb made 26 saves.
