Women’s Soccer – The Cougars (1-3-0) lost twice on their Pacific Division road swing last weekend, losing 3-1 to UNBC on Friday in Prince George, B.C. before falling 3-0 to MacEwan on Sunday in Edmonton. They’re back at home this weekend with matches against Mount Royal and Alberta on Saturday and Sunday at the U of R Field. Both of those Canada West tilts will kick off at noon.


Rams Football (U SPORTS Ranking: No. 8) – The Rams (2-1) got a 10-yard field goal on the last play of the game to earn a 19-17 victory over UBC on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium. Next up is a battle of 2-1 teams on Friday night, as the Rams will make the quick trip up to Saskatoon to take on Saskatchewan at Griffiths Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 (SaskTel maxTV 49/349).


Men’s Hockey – The Cougars opened their non-conference schedule last weekend with the Fall Showcase at The Co-operators Centre, losing 4-0 to Saskatchewan in the first game but recovering for a 7-3 win over SAIT the following day. The Cougars have two more non-conference games, including on Thursday against York in Lumsden as part of the Lions’ Mark Cross #HumboldtStrong Remembrance Tour. They’ll also play at Manitoba on Saturday afternoon.


Women’s Volleyball – The Cougars start the 2018-19 season with the non-conference University of Regina Invitational this weekend at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport. They’ll have matches against Winnipeg (2:00 PM) and Alberta (6:00 PM) on Friday, Manitoba (4:00 PM) and Brandon (8:00 PM) on Saturday, and will finish off against Trinity Western on Sunday (12:00 PM).


Men’s Basketball – Featuring six players new to the program this year and three more coming off of redshirt seasons, the Cougars will have an early measuring stick this weekend as they open the non-conference schedule on Thursday and Friday against Lakehead in Thunder Bay. Both games will tip off at 6:00 PM Regina time (www.oua.tv).


Women’s Hockey – The Cougars hit the ice for the first time this season at the Bisons Preseason Invitational in Winnipeg. They’ll play Team Manitoba’s U18 team on Friday, the University of Manitoba on Saturday, and Team Saskatchewan’s U18 squad on Sunday.


Cross Country (Men’s U SPORTS Ranking: No. 10) – Greg Hetterley won the Cougar Trot with a 25-second cushion on Saturday, scoring an 8K time of 26:02 in the first race of the season. Kaila Neigum was the top runner on the women’s side, placing second at the meet with a 6K time of 23:10. The teams will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Sled Dog Open in Saskatoon.
