The Weyburn Beavers got an outstanding eight inning pitching performance from Landon Mostellar on their way to a 2-0 shutout win over the Regina Red Sox on Sunday. The Queen City kids had a chance to break the shutout in the bottom of the ninth but stranded two runners.

Mostellar’s outing, which included 92 pitches, eight hits and seven strikeouts, earned the left hander from Bryan College his third win of the season. Eric Evans came on in the ninth to pick up his ninth save.

Dylan Bells started for the Red Sox and allowed just two runs on four hits and four walks over six innings. Bells also struck out seven before handing the ball to Sam Cottingham-Beard.

With the win Weyburn has clinched first place in the Eastern Division.
