RED SOX DOWN MILLER EXPRESS 5-1

The Regina Red Sox gained a measure of revenge as they won the second game of a home and home series with Moose Jaw.  The 5-1 Red Sox victory also halted Moose Jaw’s modest two game winning streak.

Regina scored three runs in the first two innings and then watched their pitching staff dominate the Moose Jaw hitters. To ensure victory, Regina added a couple of late inning insurance runs.

Gunner Pickett started for Moose Jaw and had a decent showing even though he was tagged with the loss. The sophomore from Northeastern lasted 6.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits while striking out 10.

Regina starter Taso Stathopoulos pitched three scoreless innings before manager Mitch MacDonald went to his bullpen. The Red Sox used four relievers, who held Moose Jaw to one run on four hits over the final six innings.

The Red Sox now return to Currie Field for a pair of games. On Thursday, June 14 the Yorkton Cardinals come to Regina and on Saturday, June 16 the Sox will host the Melville Millionaires.
