THUNDER UPSETS HILLTOPS 29-26

Sawyer Buettner’s touchdown pass to Lee Brown with 1:00 remaining capped a stunning comeback and provided the winning points as the Regina Thunder upset the Saskatoon Hilltops 29-26 at SMF Field in Saskatoon Saturday night.

The unbeaten Hilltops jumped out to a 13-0 lead after the first quarter and led 20-6 at the half. They carried a 20-14 advantage after three quarters but Regina erupted for 15 points in the final quarter to steal the victory.

Buettner was 33/40 on the night for 374 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Isaac Brown caught Buettner’s other TD pass while Levi Paul led all receivers with 120 yards on 10 receptions.

Victor St. Pierre-Laviolette led Regina in rushing with 82 yards and a touchdown.

Eric Maximuik was 2/2 on field goals.

The Thunder return home to face the Winipeg Rifles next Saturday at 7:00 pm at Mosaic Stadium
