RED SOX SNAP SLIDE IN WEYBURN
The Regina Red Sox got back in the win column and ended their four-game losing skid with an 8-3 victory over the Weyburn Beavers.
The Sox opened the game with three runs in the first inning and then added a five run fourth inning to pick up their 28th win of the season and move back into second place in the Eastern Division. The Weyburn loss ended a six game Beaver winning streak.
The Red Sox sent Jordan Scott to the hill for his ninth start of the season and he did not disappoint. The junior from Liberty University picked up his fifth win of the season by pitching seven stellar innings. Scott allowed Weyburn two runs on six hits and three walks. He also struck out four. Ruddy Estrella came on in relief in the final two innings.
Landon Mostellar, the lefty from Bryan College, was saddled with the loss after the Red Sox hitters tagged him for eight runs over four innings.
Aden Campbell provide the Sox with three hits including a double and his eighth home run. He also registered four RBI. Local product Jordan Schulz delivered two hits and a run in five at bats.
For Weyburn Evan Weidner was a bright spot offensively as he had two hits against Red Sox pitching.
Regina is back in the friendly confines of Currie Field on Friday as they host the Swift Current 57’s in a show down for first place double header. Game one starts at 6 pm.
