RODOCKER POWERS RED SOX OVER MILS

The Regina Red Sox used the long ball to blast past the Melville Millionaires 10-5 at Currie Field.
The victory was the Red Sox third consecutive and moved them to 13-5 on the season. The loss extended the Melville winless streak to eight games.

The story of the game was the bat of Regina outfielder Broderick Rodocker. The senior from Warner University brought the Red Sox fans to their feet with a grand slam to deep left field in the second inning. Rodocker went yard again in the seventh inning with a two-run shot.

The homers were Rodocker’s third and fourth of the season. He finished the night 4 for 5 with two homers including a grand slam, six RBI and three runs.

Taylor Nychyk was the lone bright spot on offensive for Melville. He was two for four with a stolen base.

Carlos Ramirez from Los Lunas, Mexico started for the Millionaires. The sophomore from Otero Junior College was tagged with the loss after allowing eight runs on nine hits and six walks.

Right handed starter Jordan Scott made his fourth start of the season for Regina. The junior from Liberty University threw 114 pitches allowing just three runs on six hits. He also struck out eight batters for the win. Kendal Daniels and Preston Minor came on in relief to close down the Millionaires in the final two innings.

These two teams will meet again on Sunday in Melville and Monday in Regina.
