RED SOX OPEN SEASON WITH 7-1 WIN AT YORKTON
The Regina Red Sox defeated the Yorkton Cardinals 7-1 in the WMBL season opener for both teams Thursday evening.
The Red Sox jumped out to a 2-0 led in the first inning and then put the game away with four runs in the fourth. Aden Campbell led Red Sox hitters with two hits, two RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Starter Jake Waters earned the Red Sox win. Waters pitched five innings giving up five hits while striking out six Cardinal batters. Reliever Seth Sorenson pitched two innings of scoreless baseball for the Sox.
Kody Rock took the loss for Yorkton giving up five hits and six runs over 3.2 innings. Offensively Caden Rosholt was one for three with an RBI and a walk for the Cards.
Regina continues their season opening road trip in Melville Friday night. Game time at Pirie Field is 7:05 pm

Lethbridge 18 at Brooks 9
Lethbridge scored 18 runs on 20 hits to beat Brooks 18-9 at Elks Stadium. Greg Holman pick up the win for the Bulls while Bomber starter Cameron Kremers was tagged with the loss.
Dylan Flasch and Carter Witbeck each had four hits and a homer to lead the Bulls offence. Ashton Roy was three for four with a run and a RBI for Brooks.
Weyburn 1 at Melville 3
The Melville Millionaires scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the Weyburn Beavers 3-2.
Millionaire Centre Fielder Austin Stokes scored the winning run on Vinny Martin single off of Beaver reliever Eric Evans. Eric Sandoz picked the win for Melville after pitching a scoreless ninth inning for Melville.
Moose Jaw 2 at Swift Current 3
New name same result. Swift Current hitters scattered 10 hits on the way to a 3-2 win over Moose Jaw. 57’s shortstop Brett Esau was three for three with a run and two RBI. Adam Cook picked up two hits and a run for the Express.
Swift Current starter Bobby St. Pierre was the winning pitcher throwing six innings giving up two hits while fanning five Moose Jaw batters. Layne Downing picked up the save. Moose Jaw starter Bo Sheridan was the loser.
