ROUGHRIDERS TEAM UP WITH RED CROSS

It has been a difficult couple of weeks for communities across Saskatchewan, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders along with the greatest fans in the CFL are going to help.

From today until kick off this Friday night, $5 from every ticket sold for the Riders game versus the Ottawa REDBLACKS will go to the Canadian Red Cross to help provide assistance in cleanup efforts.

“We know that the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Rider Nation comes through in time of need, and this is yet another example of their commitment to helping the people of Saskatchewan affected by disaster,” said Cindy Fuchs, Vice-President, Saskatchewan, Canadian Red Cross. “We are thrilled to have such a strong partner in the Saskatchewan Roughriders.”

The Red Cross and the Saskatchewan Roughriders have been proud partners for many years with their “Imagine No Bullying” program as well as helping out with the many relief efforts within the province.

The money raised will help in three ways:

1.   Clean up kits.
2.   The ability to have trained volunteers and prepositioned supplies throughout the province is KEY to allowing the Red Cross to be able to help during flood, fire or other weather disturbance.
3.   All funds collected will be used for supporting communities in their recovery/clean-up efforts or to better prepare communities for future situations but will not duplicate other support.
