MURPHY: DURANT PLAYING TIME T.B.D.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Assistant V.P. of Player Personnel John Murphy fielded a variety of questions on 620 CKRM’s SportsCage on Thursday on Day 19 of training camp.  With Thursday’s workout cancelled due to pouring rains, we weren’t able to ask GM & Head Coach Chris Jones how much star quarterback Darian Durant will play in Saturday’s preseason game at Edmonton.  Murphy said that’s yet to be determined.

“I think that’s going to be more of a vibe or a feeling between Chris, Darian and Coach McAdoo,” Murphy offered.  “He’s not on a ‘pitch count’ type of thing.  But at the same time there’s more of a necessity to let them all play together for a certain amount of time.  Whether that’s a couple of series or a quarter, that’s more of an internal discussion of we’ll know ‘when is when’ based on how everybody’s feeling.”

To listen to the entire interview, check out our podcast at www.sportscage.ca.

The Riders visit the Eskimos at 2:00 pm Saturday and the only broadcasts of the game are on the 620 CKRM Roughriders Radio Network and 630 CHED in Edmonton.

It's funny whenever you talk about the Rush you get the same tone in your voice jealous boyfriends do when I talk to another guy lol. On DD playing time I think he should get the first quarter maybe start the 3rd 4 a series or 2 we need to find out who is 2 & 3.

Darian needs to play the 1st half and about 5 minutes into the 3rd. Just so he gets the feeling of what's it's like coming out after half time. Darian hasn't played for 8 plus 18 games. He needs to remove the rust. I read nothing into anything when Rod reports on the rush. He is just simply reporting it. Let's face it its Lacross. It's nothing more than glorified lawn bowling. Who cares. Other than the people that go to the games. It certainly isn't a topic at the water cooler or coffee break. Once the rush fall back… Read more »

The NLL is a transient league, teams seem to have to move every few years. I think only 1 team (Philadelphia?) has been in that city since their inception. I think it's cool that stoon has the rush, looks like a good atmosphere, but I have a very hard time getting excited about the NLL in general.

Named Canada's National Sport because it was invented and played by 1st nations people. Post 1888 (haha) Hockey became the real National Sport of Canada. The last time I had even spoke of Lacrosse before this year was when we were forced to learn it in Grade 10 Physical education. I thought the glorified lawn bowling reference was hilarious.I also agree that probably most of North America has no idea or could care less about Lacrosse. You dont have to be an immigrant not to know or care. Until this NLL league that eventually seems to lose interest everywhere it goes.… Read more »

Lacrosse is barley anything anywhere… hockey huge and is world wide
