RIDERS LOSE ANOTHER PLAYER TO RETIREMENT
Reporter Justin Dunk reports the Saskatchewan Roughriders have lost another new player to unexpected retirement.
Dunk reports offensive lineman Bruce Campbell has filed his retirement papers with the Canadian Football League. This news comes just three weeks after receiver Maurice Price retired from the CFL, but only after collecting a $30,000 bonus from the Roughriders following his trade from Ottawa.
The Roughriders acquired Campbell from the Toronto Argonauts on Feburary 10, sending their fourth round selection (27th overall) in the 2016 CFL Draft and the rights to a negotiation list player to the Argos.
“We are happy to add an experienced offensive lineman to our roster,” stated Riders general manager and head coach, Chris Jones in a news release at the time.. “Bruce is one of the most athletic players at his position and has a chance to be an impact left tackle in our league.”
Campbell started all 15 regular season games he played in last season and the East Semi-Final for the Argonauts after signing with the team in March, 2015.
The 27-year-old was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round (106th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Maryland. Campbell went to play 14 regular season games with the Raiders during his first two seasons before joining the Carolina Panthers in 2012 where he played five regular season games.
uh oh…sounds like some players aren't liking jones and company. losing salary money and draft choices from trades,and also good talent they were hoping to have… good job guys.
People who think this has anything to do with liking or not liking "Jones and company" are idiots pulling speculative nonsense out of their asses. You say that because you want it to be true, you're simply using a narrative that fits your bias.
Athletes make snap decisions to retire all the time. Athletes who can play pro ball and WANT to play pro ball don't retire and jeopardize their careers because they don't like a coach.
One player you can understand, but now two players retiring unexpectedly something is going on. Hopefully the football leadership will get to the bottom of this issue immediately.
That being said, I would rather have these players give up on their team now, than give up on them when it really matters.

No, it wouldn't have, because Jones wasn't going to offer that extra $30K because Jones simply doesn't want to spend that kind of money on an import receiver of Dressler's height.

IN JONES AND MURPHY I TRUST!!!!! -these unfortunate retirements have NOTHING to do with the administration and how this team is run! Price is a douchebag who in my opinion won't crack the starting lineup anyways.. Campbell?? Well, this one will hurt, but hopefully not for long! -let's see how draft day goes for the Riders and their need of Canadian depth.

Who knows, with the signing yesterday, maybe he felt the writing was on the wall or was told good luck making the team. We really dont know the inside stuff.
Yesterday the Riders signed OL Thaddeus Coleman, who can play left or right tackle. Today OL Bruce Campbell – who plays left tackle – unexpectedly retires.
Think one might have something to do with the other? I’m more inclined to believe THAT over some nonsense regarding “Jones and company”.
