WADENA TO HOST HOCKEY DAY IN SASKATCHEWAN!

WADENA – The spotlight will shine brightly on Wadena this weekend with Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan.

The community of 1,600 people in east-central Saskatchewan will host 12 hockey games this week – including an SJHL contest Saturday night featuring Notre Dame vs. Battlefords.

Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan highlights:

• Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan is on Saturday with three marquee games in the Wadena Rec Centre,but the event has become a five-day festival in the community.

• The festivities start Wednesday night with Atom and PeeWee games and continues until Sunday night.

• In total, Wadena will host 12 games involving 13 other communities. Teams will travel to Wadena from:Foam Lake (Atom and Novice), Wynyard (PeeWee), Viscount (Bantam), Swift Current (Midget AAA girls), Melville (Midget AAA girls), Notre Dame (Midget AAA boys and SJHL), Tisdale (Midget AAA boys), Battlefords (SJHL), Nipawin (PeeWee girls and Midget girls), Kelvington (Novice), Davidson (Midget boys), Pilot Butte (PJHL) and Carrot River (PJHL).

• TSN’s Darren Dutchyshen is the guest speaker at Friday’s opening banquet.

The host committee for Cameco Hockey Day in Saskatchewan is hoping to raise $80,000 this week for improvements to the local arena.
