DAWGS BITE RED SOX

The Okotoks Dawgs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on the Regina Red Sox Monday night and went on to win 9-4.

One of the highlights of the night for Regina was Jager Toffan’s solo shot in the 2nd.  Toffan now leads the Red Sox with three home runs.

Strasbourg product Jordan Schulz put the Red Sox within a couple of runs with a clutch two out 2-run triple in the home half of the 5th inning. It just wasn’t enough as 477 fans watched Okotoks score three insurance runs in the ninth to hand Regina its 7th straight loss.

Parks Smithey got the nod from Red Sox skipper Scott Douglas. It was Smithey’s fifth start of the season and he faced 28 batters over 6 innings of work. He was also tagged with the loss, which dropped his record to 1-3.

The Regina bullpen was busy again as Kendal Daniels pitched the 7th, Mike Thill the 8th and Jeremy Sylvester and Brandon Radmacher closed it out for the Red Sox.

Regina now sports a 12-17 record.

The Red Sox and Dawgs will put the finishing touches on their two game series Tuesday night at Currie Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
