JLB ELECTRIC GAME RECAP: PATS UP 3-0 **UPDATE WITH SUSPENSION**

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. (CP) – The Regina Pats are on the verge of a first round sweep.  Austin Wagner scored 1:25 into overtime as Regina beat the hometown Broncos 5-4 to move one game closer to a second-round appearance.

Colby Williams, Adam Brooks, Braden Christoffer and Jake Leschyshyn also scored for the Pats, who lead the first-round series 3-0. Daniel Wapple made 24 saves for the win.

Colby Cave had a pair of goals for Swift Current, Max Lajoie scored once and set up two more and Coda Gordon had a goal and an assist. Landon Bow stopped 43 shots in defeat.

In a physical affair before 2666 fans at the Credit Union I-Plex, the game was tied 1-1 after the first period, 3-3 after 40 minutes and 4-4 through regulation.  The Pats outshot the Broncos 5-3 in the overtime period – and 48-28 overall – to collect the victory.

There was an ugly incident late in the third period when star Broncos forward Jake DeBrush was flattened by an open ice check from Regina’s James Hilsendager while attempting a breakaway.  There was no penalty on the play but it will certainly be reviewed by the WHL office.

**The WHL ruled today that Hilsendager is suspended indefinitely and therefore will not play in Game 4.**

The Pats will look to complete the sweep Wednesday evening in Game 4 in Swift Current.  Faceoff is 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Can someone from Swift Current advise if the local Coop has any corn brooms? I am coming from Regina today and would like to pick one up. Would be handy for tonight's hockey game. Rob

Didn't get to watch the game last night but saw highlights…looked like Broncos were definitely the aggressors but good on the young guys to stand up to them. Hilsy's hit on DeBrush wasn't pretty…hopefully he is ok…assume a suspension will be in the future. It didn't look intentional but no excuse. A sweep would be wonderful but the horses won't be lying down tonight I don't assume. Go Pats!

Broncos were lucky to be in the game. Pats outplayed them badly. Out shot them 48-28!

Pats ownership and Mike Sillinger flew to the game in Swift Current last night, this morning they will announce plans for a new 20,000 arena to be built in the old CP yards downtown Regina and apply for Oilers minor league hockey team Oklahoma Barons.

I love how COCKY Regina media, Pats fans, and after hearing some post-game media, player currently are. While the Pats have been doubted, they are winning a first round series against a team that is on the heels of a seven game losing streak. If the season was a week longer they would already be at home.

That's not taking anything away from the on-ice performance, but lets just cool the jets a little.

The Pats will play eight playoff games this season. They have a long way to go in the next two years to be a serious contender.

If you love how cocky they are then why are you complaining about them? Pats are a memorial cup contender this season, get that through your head Warriors fan!

What a back and forth game. One momentum shift after another. The Pats' speed makes for very enteraining hockey.

I never would've guessed we'd be up 3-0 in the series. Not going to say it'll be a sweep because I'll jinx it! Swift will be playing desparate tonight and the Pats will needs to keep their heads up.

Paddock has this young team belieiving in themselves and it's showing on the ice.

Good luck tonight Pats!

Any thoughts on the hit on Debrusk?

I have to think Hillsendager will get one for that.

A senior referee was 10 ft away, had a Great look at it and deemed NO penalty on the play. When will the On Ice officials become more responsible for the game, leaving the Suits in Calgary out of the equation?

Agree with Rods comments on the hit. Unfortunate incident in a high speed game.

Watched the game on shaw. Pats transition speed is impressive.

I agree that Hilsendager may get a suspension but sure shouldn't. There was a minute left in a tie game, Debrusk put himself in a completely vulnerable situation to try and win the game. I don't really know what else James could of done, although I am sure the Pats would take a game or 2 suspension over a 5Min major.
