RIDERS RELEASE TWO, INCLUDING SHOMARI

REGINA — Shomari Williams’ second stint in Saskatchewan has come to an end. The former first overall draft pick in 2010 was released by the Riders today.

Williams joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a free agent in 2013 but was sent back to Saskatchewan in a trade for draft picks along with punter Josh Bartel.

In four CFL seasons, Williams has 90 defensive tackles, 50 special teams tackles, five quarterback sacks and an interception.

The Riders also announced that they have released linebacker Marvin Burdette.

Shomari has not lived up to the expectations of a first round draft pick. I would suggest he was overpriced as well.

Could this be paving the way for LB Rennie Curran?

Yep, Richie in "Grease-Fire" Winnipeg can pick up Shomari for nothing now.

Wasn't Burdette the dude who came on late in the season? Wasn't a "big" guy but rather thick in stature? He seemed decent…better than Kilgore.
