VIKINGS SIGN BRIAN PETERS

The Minnesota Vikings are holding true to their search for finding talent anywhere.

Minnesota signed linebacker Brian Peters Monday. Peters, 26, played the last two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League.

At his season-ending press conference, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said the team would look far and wide to add talent and mentioned the CFL. Previously, Minnesota signed cornerback Jalil Carter from the CFL and defensive end Leon Mackey from the Arena Football League.

Peters also played in the AFL, competing for the Iowa Barnstormers in 2012 following four years at Northwestern where he started 34 of 52 games and ranks third in school history with 12 interceptions.

Last season with Saskatchewan, Peters had 78 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and two interceptions.

He is not a hard player for the Riders to replace.

Not hard to replace? The team's leading tackler and special teams tackler, plus he can also long snap.

Yeah, what did he ever contribute?

Just because Minnesota signed Peters dosen't mean he is going to make the team. Training camp fodder is still a reality. Re: Dressler
Also a player can be better suited for the American game then the CFL game. Re: Running back Ricky Williams.
Peters is an all around Player and can play different positions. Which is a delight of the D.C. However this type of player is never a stand out for the fan.

A quote from TSN comments – Yes, Peters was important but he also had trouble shedding blocks and tackling after the hit. He often over pursued and had the wrong angles on running plays. He is young and would likely have been better this year, but he was not an all star last year. Having Emry and McDougall plus bringing T-Brack up to the LB spot will provide a better D than last year.

Former Wyoming QB Smith signs with CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders…

Not much info regarding that signing…

It seems the #3 position will be fought out by:
Suneri
Price
Smith…

Of course he made alot of tackles, he was the weak link in the d and the oposition always knew they could get 8-12 yds per play against him, which they did. Opposition always ran there plays at him either on returns or offensive plays.

Was never overly impressed with his play but I'm not watching his every move either. Good for him to get a shot in the NFL hopefully it helps his game only get better.

Was very impressed with his play but was not watching his every move like Reginald from Regina. Good for him to get a shot in the NFL, a young football player with a lot of talent and intelligence.

Pre labour day qb depth chart: Glenn ,Sunceri,Price,DD. Post labour day: DD,Sunceri,Glenn,Smith. It takes a year to fully recover from a throwing injury. Glenn will keep the riders in contention but the honeymoon ends during a big home game loss. DD comes back to finish the season.

The Minnesota Vikings have a keeper. Brian Peters a great talent find via the Indoor football Iowa Barnstormers and the Canadian game. He'll do well In the NFL, congratulations.

I agree, it won't take much to improve on him. The reason he had so many tackles was because that's where they went with all their plays knowing he'd only make one in three plays and either get blocked or run by it the other two times. He was without a doubt the most overrated player on the roster last year.

Yes. Peters is overrated. It's well known that the NFL signs players that are overrated lol. Some people crack me up.

Maybe he got the invite to the Vikings cause he's a damn good football game…nah, couldn't be
