REGINA – If Friday night was a playoff preview, the Regina Pats aren’t interested.  Colby Cave had a hat trick and Landon Bow stopped all 44 shots he faced as the Swift Current Broncos shut out the Regina Pats 5-0 in Western Hockey League action.

If the playoffs were to start today, the Pats and Broncos would line up against each other in round one with the Pats holding home ice advantage.  Coming out of the game, the Pats had a 10-point lead over Swift Current for second place in the WHL’s East Division.

Jay Merkley and Tanner LeSann also scored for the Broncos (26-24-5) before 4876 fans in the Brandt Centre.

Daniel Wapple started in goal for Regina (30-18-7), turning away 11-of-15 shots in 26:19. Tyler Brown replaced him and made 18 saves in relief.

Swift Current failed to score on five power-play chances while the Pats were 0 for 4.  The Pats outshot the Broncos 44-34.

Regina looks to get back in the win column Saturday night when they visit the Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

The Pats’ next home game is Monday at 2:00 pm when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings on Family Day.  For tickets, click here: http://www.ticketmaster.ca/regina-pats-vs-brandon-wheat-kings-regina-saskatchewan-02-16-2015/event/11004CF6A2707370?artistid=881269&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=9&tm_link=search_msg-0_11004CF6A2707370

Looks like another short playoff run unless they can solve their problems against speedy creek. Maybe some year that will change against sc.

They got out worked and shoved around all night. It's about time Paddock let this team play aggressive. he's got them playing far too passive. Braden Christopher doesn't look like the same player this year.

A game like this wasn't worth the ridiculous price increases they are implementing this year. It's going to force a lot of seniors and students out of the building. What senior on a fixed income can afford a jump from $330 to $520. That's over 60% increase. Regina is one of the few places that doesn't provide a discount for seniors or students.

Just think for $6.95 + gst cheap hockey just what you want.Pop your own popcorn, buy drinks at the Dollar Store and you are set. No gas to drive to the Brandt center. WOW!!!! what a savings. Sorry no entry to the season ticket holder game draws. No discount for seniors and students oh well. And if your screen is to bright turn it down. GO PATS… Read more »
