TIGERS 5 PATS 4 (SO)

Cole Sanford scored the shootout winner for the Medicine Hat Tigers in a 5-4 victory over the Regina Pats Tuesday evening before a sellout crowd of 4006 in The Arena.  The loss for Regina snapped their four game winning streak.

The Pats led 1-0 after the first period and the game was tied 1-1 after 40 minutes.  Each team struck three times in the third period to send the game to overtime knotted at 4-4.  The Tigers outshot Regina 5-4 in the extra session but nothing was decided.

Dryden Hunt and Sanford scored for Medicine Hat in the derby while Regina’s Sam Steel and Jacob Elmer were both stymied.  Pavel Padakin (2), Austin Wagner and Braden Christoffer scored for the Pats in regulation.

The Tigers outshot the Pats 49-31 as Regina goalie Daniel Wapple made 45 saves in the loss.  The Pats were 1/3 on the powerplay and 4/4 killing penalties.

The Pats (30-17-4-3) return to action Friday evening when they host the Swift Current Broncos at 7:00 on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

That was an exciting game last night, even though a SOL. Steele likely didn't sleep knowing he missed 2 opportunities to win it with empty net attempts :)) . Oh well can't win them all. The SHAW announcers were sure high on Wagner and Steele pre-game (and during the game) and they came through big time. The NHL scouts got a good look at all the talent on both teams. Waps again was a big reason we were in it but that is what a good team needs. Should be a good one Friday against the Broncs.

Why should seniors get special pricing anyway? Do they get it at Rider games or NHL games not likely. Quit crying it is a fact of life and just be glad that seniors have had it so good for so long and so have others. If people think that the new ownership is not going to fill the rink at the new prices they are wrong. It will be great to have the opportunity to get lower bowl seats for a game instead of all the crappy seats that have been tied up for forty years plus and are very… Read more »

Yes ticket prices are up but lots of options. Season tickets are still a good deal – gold seat for $13.68 per game. Don't think there ever was a deal for season tickets for seniors was there? Flex packs are good price as well. Time will tell…can voice your opinion at the town hall meeting on the 21st.

I cant see many families attending games as often now with those prices…. pretty much forcing a family of 4 to sit in the crappy end seats looking thru that horrible mesh. I have no kids but I know if I did they wouldn't be coming to many games at $25 a seat just to keep my same seats, and no way in hell would I sit behind the end zones. The changes don't effect me much at all but I can see how it will effect families. One day this city will stop trying to compare itself to EDM… Read more »

Safeway still sells tickets for $10/game…get them for the kids and find a place to sit with them…like I said, lots of options. I have had tickets in Sec 222 for last few years…if some of the long time season ticket owned Gold seats are going to come available where I want to sit now is my chance!

Dear Scott Shiek / Scott Smith / Patsdude114 / Everyother moniker. Stop spamming people with the same message on every forum. We get the point – it doesn't affect you and you're the glorious voice of reason. I'm excited for the new pricing, I have kids and don't mind paying a bit more to know that I can use my tickets for anybody. This is the most exciting Pats team in recent memory and only getting better game-by-game. To compare the Pats to the other teams in Saskatchewan is ridiculous, Swift Current barely has an SJHL arena. The Pats are… Read more »

I think ownership was a little quick on the draw. They bought a team with a not so great fan base that even with a younger team with promise people don't care enough to show up to support . The pats have had terrible support mostly because of past management and ownership to blame but the new owners to come in and raise prices right away isn't a great start for them. They don't realize most people are going be hesitant to put out more money for a team that regina fan base has always been on the fence about… Read more »
