The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today that national receiver Alex Anthony and national linebacker Ryan Wellman have re-signed with the team. As per club policy, financial details of the contracts were not released.

Anthony (6’2 – 205) will be entering his third year with the Roughriders after originally being selected by the team in the 5th round (39th overall) of the 2013 CFL Draft. Through his first two seasons, the 23-year-old has appeared in four games as a backup receiver registering two receptions for 13 yards.

Wellman (6’6 – 235) will rejoin the Riders for his second CFL season. The University of Regina product got into five regular season games during his 2014 rookie campaign. The 24-year-old saw action mainly on special teams where recorded two tackles.

· The Riders also announced they have released national centre Dominic Picard and national linebacker Tristan Black.

I still dislike the politically correct "national" and "international" terms. Why not Canadian and American? That is at least representative of how people actual talk and describe players.
Are we afraid we would offend someone who is neither? Jeez.

Why isn't Taman "PERSONALLY" out finding new player talent on behalf of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. USA flooded with football games this time of year. Seems to be the same scenario setting in as last year. We all know how that ended with a 3rd place CFL West Division standing and a dismal playoff showing. Roughriders another injury away to their starting QB and the basement of the league.

You are such a genius ela. The team would be soooo much better off if you were the GM.

The Riders don't need their GM out on the road in the US – that's why we have Craig Smith, Geroy and Jeremy O'Day on staff, as well as some additional staff to be added.

We need the GM negotiating with the free agents just like every other team's GM's and working with the coaches for the upcoming draft. GM's don't travel anymore, your probably thinking back to the 1950's when teams could not afford scouts.

Craig Smith either needs help or dismissed. He hasn't found anybody that would turn heads since Cory Sheets.

It's Kory Sheets. Also, he didn't "find" Sheets as Sheets wasn't hiding. He was just another NFL cast off who made a CFL team. Was 4th on the depth chart heading into the 2012 year.

Kory Sheets a Florida free agent camp walk-on by invitation of scouting staff.
