WARRIORS NAME TIM HUNTER COACH
Moose Jaw Warriors General Manager Alan Millar has announced the hiring of Tim Hunter as the team’s new Head Coach.
“On behalf of our Board of Directors, Management, staff, and players, I am very pleased to welcome Tim and his family to the Moose Jaw community and the Warriors,” said Warriors General Manager Alan Millar.
“Tim brings tremendous experience to our team both as a very successful player and coach. His character, work ethic, and passion for development and teaching made him the ideal candidate for this position. I am excited to have Tim leading our players in what we anticipate to be a bright future for our hockey club,” Millar added.
Hunter’s coaching career began in the NHL as an Assistant Coach with the Washington Capitals from 1997 to 2002. In December 2002 he joined the San Jose Sharks as their Assistant Coach and remained with the organization until 2008. He then joined the Toronto Maple Leafs as their Assistant Coach from 2008 to 2011. Hunter spent the 2011-2012 season as the Head Coach at the Okanagan Hockey Academy. In 2012-2013 he returned to the National Hockey League with the Washington Capitals as an Assistant Coach.
He has spent the last ten months living in Calgary doing work for the Calgary Flames and the Flames Alumni. He was the Head Coach for Team Orr at the 2014 CHL/BMO Top Prospects Game, which featured current Moose Jaw Warrior Brayden Point.
As an Assistant Coach in the NHL, Hunter has been on the bench for 1089 games, 526 of them wins. He has been on coaching staffs that have captured three Southeast Division Championships, two Pacific Division Championships, and he has one appearance as an Assistant Coach in the Stanley Cup Final.
Hunter is from Calgary, he played with the Kamloops Chiefs in the BCJHL and Seattle Breakers in the WCHL in 1977-1978. He played for the Breakers in the WHL from 1978 to 1980, in 142 games he had 22 goals, 116 points, and 611 penalty minutes.
great hire for the Warriors but I don't give a crap about the who the warriors hire its time for the Pats to name their new Head Coach although im thinking the top guys are not interested in this job due to how poorly Cameron was treated after a successful season…
maybe our Regina Pats are not in better hands then with the Parker's……

Maybe he was treated that way after his assistant coaches quit and refused to work with him any longer.

Once again, other WHL Clubs are getting a breath of fresh air with new head coaches. Meanwhile, the Pats get receycled Lorne Mollenken. Brutal!

Anonymous #1 is dead on. 4 or 5 coaches in the past decade. Win a pennant, oops not good enough, you're fired. Any smart candidate would do their background work. The hockey world is small, I'm betting many candidates would have talked to the recent coaches here about Regina.

You have to remember that the pats new owner are new to hockey. They have no past history, they have no contacts.They may think they are big wheels, but not in this circle. Pretty tough to attract top guy to this, certainly after the way they handled the last coach.They may be struck with Mollenken oe even worse Sellinger
If they hire Mollekan't – there will be a long lineup to cancel season tickets.
I'm not sure the new Owners are going to be in this for the long haul. I was and still am positive about their ownership, but it's just a tall order. $8M for 46 home dates and any profits have to be split 4 or 5 ways. It just doesn't add up, and their optics are terrible right now. Had they dumped the entire lot when they took over there would be no drama. IMO we will get a head coach that is off the board. An AHL or NHL assistant with at least 5 years experience. I think our PPL is stocked. The team can gain some draft choices at the trade deadline this year, Have a good chance to host the 2019 Memorial Cup. The down side is the (in flux) management structure that is a work in progress.

There is still a very good head coach in Jim Hiller out there, he was very successful as the HC of Tri-City he did beat out Conacher for coach of the year after all.
With all WHL head coaching spots filled but Regina maybe Hiller is just destined to be here……

Based on Jim Hiller's coaching resume he should be in the running for the job.
I can't wait until Tim Hunter enters the Pats bench and beats the tar out of Pats head coach .
