THE PRICE IS WRONG

STATEMENT FROM THE STAMPEDERS:

The Calgary Stampeders are outraged by the offensive comments made today in tweets from Maurice Price’s account. The comments are repugnant and in no way reflect the organization’s views or values. The matter will now be dealt with internally.

The Stampeder receiver made the following comments on Twitter regarding the St. Louis Rams drafting Michael Sam on the weekend, the first openly gay player in the NFL:

“@MauricePrice17: My faith won’t allow me to ACCEPT what took place Saturday! Sorry, NOT sorry! #AdamAndEve #NotAdamAndAdam

And it’s highly disturbing & uncomfortable that under the current constitution individuals have been FINED for verbalizing their thoughts “

Pardon me but what did he do that was so offensive? The man expressed his opinion that is shaped through his worldview which and upbrining.

This has swung to far. First it was Donald Sterling and now this.

I am sorry, but the lifestyle these guys live is not healthy nor is it normal. For every genetic study there is a contradictory one saying it is a choice.

In 2014 all I can say is what is done is done. What will be will be and people just have to let it go.

This is now the new normal.

Hi Pat, Good enough for you bub? Dr Alan Sanders, associate Professor of Psychiatry at Northwestern University, who led the study said that it was it was an 'oversimplification’ to suggest there was a 'gay gene.’ “We don’t think genetics is the whole story. It’s not. We have a gene that contributes to homosexuality but you could say it is linked to heterosexuality. It is the variation.” The study builds on work by Dr Dean Hamer from the US National Cancer Institute in 1993 who also found an area of the x chromosome that he believed was linked to male… Read more »

My faith won't allow ME to accept what took place on Maurice Price's twitter account. Its fine to believe what you believe, and think what you think, but when the thoughts you verbalize are hateful, yes you get fined. And if you don't think what he said was full of hate, read his tweet. He is upset that a man who is openly gay was drafted and kissed his boyfriend. How does what happened on Saturday affect Maurice Price in ANYWAY? It doesn't. If you think there aren't, and haven't been, any gay men in the NFL or CFL, you… Read more »

And the Stamps aren't being hateful …"they are outraged" because a person states his beliefs?? How hypocritical society is…If the Riders took the Stamps stance I would never go to another game and burn my Rider gear…What a sham…

@The Rock, Well where to start because once again you are completely wrong. To The Rock and all other Haters: Clearly you have no concept or understanding of Biblical hermeneutics which is the study of the principles of interpretation of the Bible. You must always look at context and intent which you are not doing. You through a verse out well read a little further and get to Paul's letter to the Romans 8:38. How do you square that circle? While we're at it can you also tell me something about a few things: 1) I'm interested in selling my… Read more »

The Rock, Do you even know what hermeneutics are? It's not an over simplification as "What can't you read?" – Along the way from hand me down verbal stories over hundreds of years to original greek and arabic translations then into English etc., to societal changes. – My goodness you come across as advocating we all use Windows 95 and never moved past 1995 in terms of thinking, and to top it off you want to live in Ancient Rome. …I guess you never ran into a guy like me so the oversimplifiction route doesn't quite work now does it.… Read more »

Rock, If you wouldn't go to another game because a team stood up to one of it's own spewing hatred and intolerance toward another human being, perhaps it is time you looked in the mirror and saw who/what the real problem is. Micheal Sam's sexuality is none of Maurice Price's business nor is it anyone else's place to judge. Seems like you, along with many other members of society seem it is all right to vehemently protest the decisions/choices of another when it is THEIR life, not yours, not mine. I will admit that I am intolerant, but not of… Read more »

So much for 'Freedom of speech.' It was nothing more than his opinion based on his interpretation of the Bible.

Yeah, and his interpretation was completely and utterly wrong. This is how wars around the world start. Kudos to Obama of all people for blowing his arguement apart.

Tell us how does The Rock interpret slavery, women's roles in society, interacial relationships. The Bible is chock full of that stuff.

It is not one continuous book that you can take in English 100 and state the central theme of it nice and tidy. It starts and ends with love. It is 66 books made up of books, poems, letters, and accounts.

Freedom of speech only protects you from criminal charges, not from repercussions at work/ your job. Price is a bonehead.

To "The Rock"

What you ignorantly seem incapable of understanding is that, besides that of course you are entitled to your own belief; however if your beliefs are hateful, or illegal as within Canadian law and the Constitution, then you are not aloud to openly use hateful remarks within our Canadian society.

———-

That being said, even without the law being in place, why would anyone want to live in a world of hate when you could simply accept.

To the Rock,

Our Canadian government and society is not ruled by one religion or the Christian Bible.
You have every right (as protected by the Constitution) to live your life with the freedom of being part of a religion, but also part of the Constitution is that you don't have the right to put down others choice as to how they live their lives.

Your (perceived) racist views are not protected under the Constitution.
