WICKENHEISER GOLF CLASSIC DETAILS ANNOUNCED

Regina, Saskatchewan – The Regina Pats Hockey Club has announced the opening of registration for the 17th Annual Wickenheiser Golf Classic.  The annual tournament supporting Regina Palliative Care Inc. Caring Hearts Camp in honour of the late Pats great Doug Wickenheiser will be taking on a different look to years past.

This year the tournament will be played earlier in the summer teeing off Monday, June 16th at the picturesque Deer Valley Golf Club just outside of Regina.

“As an organization we take great pride in having the opportunity to partner with the Wickenheiser family as we pay our respects to a Regina Pats alumni, the late Doug Wickenheiser,” said Pats Senior VP and General Manager Chad Lang.  “We are grateful to team up with Regina Palliative Care Inc. to help raise awareness and funding for the charities partnered with the Wickenheiser Golf Classic.”

This year’s Wickenheiser Golf Classic is being held in conjunction with the Regina Pats 1974 Memorial Cup Championship Reunion.  Some members of the team will be involved with the tournament.  More information about the Regina Pats 1974 Memorial Cup Championship Reunion and how the general public can be involved will become available in the coming weeks.

“It was always a dream for my brothers and myself to play for the Regina Pats.  Doug and I were lucky enough to wear the Pats crest and be a Regina Pat,” commented Pats alumni Kurt Wickeneiser (brother of Doug Wickenheiser). “Doug was a very humble man and made the city of Regina proud by being the number one pick in the world and made our family proud.  It’s an honour to have the Regina Pats use his name, the Wickenheiser name, in honour of Doug.  He would be very proud of it.”

Each golfer’s $325 entry fee includes a catered lunch and dinner, all on course activities and a limited edition Pats golf bag (retail value $200).  To register for the 17th Annual Regina Pats Wickenheiser Golf Classic, fill out the attached registration form and email it to pats@reginapats.com, drop it off at the Pats Office or call 306-522-7287 before May 30th.

Tee and hole sponsorships are available for $350 and are a great way for businesses to gain exposure while showing support of this fundraising event.
