COUGARS SWEEP VICTORIA

REGINA, Sask. – The University of Regina’s women’s basketball team put the finishing touches on a two-game sweep over Victoria in the Canada West quarterfinals with an 82-68 win over the Vikes on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

 

Madi Docherty led the Cougars in scoring for the second time in the last three games, tying her career high with 22 points and adding eight assists and six rebounds in the win. Jennilea Coppola added 13 points, while Charlotte Kot had 12 points and nine rebounds and Kehlsie Crone chipped in with 10 points.

 

The Cougars become the first team to move onto the Canada West Final Four, which will be hosted by the University of Alberta two weeks from now if the Pandas are able to win their quarterfinal series against Thompson Rivers next weekend.

 

NOTES: The Cougars will participate in their seventh consecutive Canada West Final Four … the U of R has now defeated Victoria in seven straight postseason games and are 8-3 against the Vikes in the 11 all-time postseason meetings between the two teams.
