REGINA, Sask. – The University of Regina’s women’s basketball team led from wire to wire in a 82-67 win over Victoria in Game 1 of a Canada West quarterfinal series Friday evening at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Janine Guijt was 6-for-10 from three-point range and led all players with a career-high 22 points off the bench for the Cougars, while Charlotte Kot (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Jennilea Coppola (10 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles for the U of R.

Sarah Semeniuk and Jenny Lewis each had 19 points to lead Victoria.

The two teams will meet in Game 2 of the quarterfinal series on Saturday night at the CKHS (7:00). A win by the Cougars will send them to the Canada West Final Four two weekends from now, while a Victoria victory would force a third and deciding game to be played on Sunday.
