CALVILLO TO ANNOUNCE HIS FUTURE
MONTREAL (CP) – Quarterback Anthony Calvillo will make a long-awaited announcement next week regarding his future with the Montreal Alouettes.
The team has scheduled a news conference for next Tuesday at a downtown hotel, at which time Calvillo will “provide an update on his playing career.”
President Mark Weightman and coach/GM Jim Popp are also to attend the announcement.
Calvillo, 41, is expected to retire after 19 seasons in which he set all-time CFL records for passing yards, completions and TDs. He missed the second half of the 2013 campaign with a concussion.
Thank you Mr Anthony Calvillo for all accomplished on and off the field of play, continued future success for whatever may be.

So TSN's Dave Naylor says Anthony is going to announce his retirement. What a no-class SOB. Why not wait 12 hours and let AC announce it in his own words with dignity. But I guess to be an insider you have to lack class, in fact you can't even recognize it.

The Teams around Anthony made him even better than he was. He was a good QB but he wasn't this awesome great QB many say he is. He's played more years than just about any other QB in the CFL except Damon Allen. Damon's problem was he bounced around on too many teams. Anthony has been on 2 legitimate CFL teams. I disagree. Calvillo made 5 win teams 9 win teams. He made 9 win teams 14 win teams and he made first round losers into grey cup champions. I rarely argue speculation. But Calvillo was worth 4 to 5 reg season wins and at least one playoff win a year. Sometimes more. But rarely, if ever, less.
As good as he was I still believe Doug Flutie was better.

I am not sure Flutie was better. Flutie and Calvillo were both unreal, but different in the way they did things. Flutie was more of a magician, Calvillo was more cerebral and systematic.
I am literally stumped as to who I would rather have in their prime. They are both unblieveable human beings and athletes.
For sure 1 and 1a in the history of the league.
It is a tragedy that we didn't get to see the two of them face eachother in their prime – like we will see with peyton and Gaydy this weekend.

I was the one that said Flutie was better than AC and still do, but I had forgotten about Moon. Now I'm not sure if Moon should be on top. Both lists above are good though & make for interesting debate & both could be right. I'll have to think about it more.
