NINE WHL’ERS INVITED TO WJHC CAMP (NO PATS)
Hockey Canada and the Canadian Hockey League announced Monday that 25 players have been invited to attend Canada’s National Junior Team selection camp, beginning Dec. 12 at the MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence in Etobicoke, Ont.
Canada’s final roster for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship in Malmö, Sweden, will include 22 players, and must be finalized by Dec. 25.
Nine of the players invited to the selection camp are from the Western Hockey League, including Edmonton Oil Kings’ defenceman Griffin Reinhart, who played for Canada’s national junior team 1t the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship. Also included on the list of invitees is former Red Deer Rebels defenceman Mathew Dumba, who is currently playing in the NHL with the Minnesota Wild.
The 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship will be broadcast on TSN and RDS, Hockey Canada’s official broadcasters.

Hey Rod, can you help? In years past wasn't there quite a few more players selected to the camp? Don't they do the knocks on the doors and end up sending players home. This looks like aside from 3 players they have picked the team already.
So who are the other 15?
We have had a rich past history of sending players and coaches to the WJHC. Things have bee lean the last while for what I feel are obvious reasons. Between the 2009 and 2010 drafts we have only 4 of the players selected actually on our roster. 2010 and 2011 we didn't have a 1st round pick. The 2011 draft was exceptionally bad. Somehow we are not recognizing the talent we need to be successful. In particular 3rd round and later picks haven't been great in the last years.
