RAIDERS 7 PATS 6 OT
REGINA — With the Grey Cup in attendance, things looked rosy for the Regina Pats in their first home game in 26 days. The Queen City Kids built up a 5-0 lead early in the second period Friday evening before the roof completely caved in.
The 2013 Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders were honoured in a pregame ceremony which included the Riders’ Taj Smith, Dwight Anderson, Chris Milo, Keith Shologan, Tyron Brackenridge, Weston Dressler, Gordon Gilroy, Jeremy O’Day and Brendan Taman.
The Pats led 4-0 after the first on goals by Boston Leier (2), Connor Gary and Dryden Hunt. Starting Raider goalie Nick McBride was lifted in favour of Cole Cheveldae after allowing three goals on nine shots.
Gay scored his second of the game at 5:18 of the middle frame for a 5-0 Regina lead but goals by the Raiders’ Josh Morrissey and Gage Quinney cut the lead to 5-2. Dyson Stevenson put the Pats up 6-2 going to the third.
It was there that Cory Clouston’s Raiders took over. The club scored four goals in 3:49 to tie the game 6-6 and send it to overtime.
P.A.’s Leon Draisaitl scored on the powerplay, his second marker of the game, at 1:37 of the extra period to cap the unbelievable comeback.
Pats goalie Dawson MacAuley faced 53 shots on the night while his team had 27 of its own. Regina was 2/2 on the powerplay and 1/4 killing penalties.
With the win the Raiders improved to 16-9-2, and a perfect 4-0 against the Pats. Regina (14-13-0) returns to action Saturday night when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00 (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 6:35 pm).

Yes this was a bad one…let it be a lesson for this Team…don't let your guard down against a good team like PA. MacAuley played super throughout. PA got 2 real fluky goals and Cheveldave made the "TSN Turning Point" save in the 3rd on a beautifully executed 2 on 1 with Zgraggen and Chandler. All 6 Pats goals were great to watch. Suck it up boys and take it to the Warriors tomorrow night.

A shocking loss…PA is a big talented team. I suppose the Pats did the best they could with what they have. PA won all the battles in both ends of the ice, mainly due to their size. The Pats appear to be very soft on the back end, and that's borne out by the league stats. 12 goals against in the last two games alone. Seemed like once the Grey Cup left the bldg after the second period, the Pats didn't do much after.
From a rats fan perspective…owww! Raiders showed a lot of heart….I still like the rats better than the blades though…!

…when you see that we can't beat the Raiders or Broncos with a combined 0-7 you also see we can't win the east division…can't play MJ every night…the Western division teams are even stronger…Some of the supposed talent isn't cutting it and hasn't for some time..not very deep and atrocious defensively…when the PK is that bad some people are not selling out…the road trip is over and doesn't mean anything now…this team has a month to decide if it will be buyers or sellers and it may well be the latter..

We were out coached. Clouston made the right calls in the third and his team won the game. Why the heck didn't Cameron call a time out in the 3rd and stop the bleeding on PA's 4th or 5th goal ? Instead he calls it AFTER the Raiders tie the game. Poor judgement and a little to late. And when he did call the time out he lost it on the kids, yelling, kicking and screaming. The 3rd and 4th lines are getting eaten up by opposing teams. PA walked out to the front of our net all night long. It appears we're not strong enough to stop them. It looks like we're good enough to hang around the middle of the pack but that's about it. Some guys have to start eating their wheaties and working with the strength coach. There are a few obvious deficiencies in personnel that continue to be glaring.
Well, last night was the first game I had gone too this year and after foregoing renewing the purchase of season tickets after 10+ years of being a season ticket holder. I would like to say thank you to the friend of mine that supplied me the ticket and opportunity to go to the game. …. the Pats used to use the services of a strength coach. I don't know if they do any more but it very clear that one is needed. The upper body strength of a lot of our players isn't good enough. The US high schools and colleges have already recognized the value of weight room work. Our guys need much more time on the iron…
that was a coaches loss no questions asked…. the 3rd period was like watching a Conacher coached teams, boring and no desire to play. Truly can not believe the poster above is trying to put blame on MacAuley, the kid faced 50+ shots and made some real good saves time and time again. You can not stop them all when they are coming at you in waves, which the coaches seemed happy to watch instead of trying to dictate the play which was happening in the 1st 2 periods.
