Boston Leier scored in the shootout to net the Regina Pats a 3-2 victory at the Spokane Chiefs Saturday night to conclude the team’s U.S. Division swing.  Dryden Hunt and Dyson Stevenson scored in regulation time for the Queen City Kids while Dawson MacAuley made 30 saves to collect the victory.  The Pats (13-11-0) are tied for 5th in the WHL’s Eastern Conference.  The next action for the Pats is Friday night when they visit the Red Deer Rebels at 8 pm on 620 CKRM.

Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre survived a stiff challenge from Number-One contender Johny Hendricks, hanging on to win a razor-thin split decision at UFC 167 in Las Vegas. The Montreal native took a beating en route to the win. St-Pierre said without a doubt it was his toughest fight, and hinted at retirement after the match.

David Perron scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period as the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a 2-0 third-period deficit to beat the Calgary Flames 4-2. Ales Hemsky got the equalizer with his first goal in 12 games, as Edmonton scored three times on four shots in a span of 6:42.

James van Riemsdyk scored twice and Nikolai Kulemin picked up the game-winner as the Toronto Maple Leafs snapped a three-game losing skid with a 4-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres. In Montreal, the Canadiens were blanked 1-0 by the New York Rangers. Ryan Callahan scored the lone goal and rookie Cam Talbot made 22 saves for his first NHL shutout.

Alexander Steen scored his league-leading 17th goal of the season and added an assist to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Elsewhere in NHL action, New Jersey downed Pittsburgh 4-1, the Islanders edged Detroit 5-4 in a shootout, and Phoenix doubled up Tampa Bay 6-3.

Defending champion Laval will be making its fourth straight trip to the Vanier Cup, after a 48-21 drubbing of Mount Allison at the Uteck Bowl. Pascal Lochard rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns for the Rouge et Or, who will be the host team next Saturday against the Calgary Dinos. Calgary blasted the Western Mustangs 44-3 at the Mitchell Bowl.

The combatants in the 101st Grey Cup will be decided on Sunday.  The Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the Toronto Argonauts in the East Division Final at 12 pm Sask time while the Saskatchewan Roughriders take on the Stampeders in Calgary in the West Division Final at 3:30 pm.

Indiana is no longer perfect. The Pacers picked up their first loss of the season, 110-94 to the Chicago Bulls. Luol Deng scored 23 points, and Derrick Rose added 20 more for Chicago while Roy Hibbert led Indiana with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kyrie Irving scored 41 points, including nine in overtime to help the Cleveland Cavaliers snap a three-game skid with a 103-96 victory over Washington. Canadian Tristan Thompson added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Cavs.
