DIVISION FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
The Canadian Football League announced today the 2013 Gibson’s Finest Most Outstanding Players for the East and West Divisions and they included a record number of Canadians. A total of seven Canadian players were honoured for eight most outstanding player awards, the most in league history.
“Our players continue to play at an extremely high level, setting new records and providing our fans with exciting games and an exciting product,” said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon. “On behalf of our entire league and our fans, congratulations to all of this year’s divisional winners — a very well deserved honour.”
This year’s finalists in the East/West format are:

Cornish could become the first Canadian player to be named CFL Most Outstanding Player since Tony Gabriel in 1978. Only two Canadian players have been named the CFL Most Outstanding Player – Gabriel (1978) and Russ Jackson (1969, 1966, 1963).
This marks the first time that both divisional winners for Most Outstanding Special Teams Players are Canadian since the award’s inaugural season in 1999.
The last Canadian player to be named the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie was Jason Clermont in 2002. Only four Canadian Players have been named the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie – Clermont (2002), Michael O’Shea (1993), Orville Lee (1988) and Joe Poplawski (1978).
The last time both East and West Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman were both Canadian was in 2008 when Scott Flory and Gene Makowsky were honoured.
Lets congratulate the Stampeders! However, the bigger prize will be the Riders hoisting the Grey Cup. Go Riders! John

Guys it's a fact of life, not every good football player that comes from this province is going to play for their hometown Roughriders. Hell, I could care less if any Saskatchewan guys are on the roster, as long as we win. That said, it would have been nice to have Brett Jones here but that ship has sailed so lets move on. We have a pretty good O-line that is finally healthy and just in time for the playoffs.
On a side note, Rod how about King George winning big at the CMA's last night!

Brett Jones said before the draft he may fore go med school and play THIS season but he is still unsure about next season.
When did sports get so "politically correct"? No one can say anything remotely controversial or tell us what they are really feeling without being judged by fans and media. Yes, it's terrible that Brett Jones wasn't able to stand on OUR sidelines all year as the 7th o-lineman and maybe, just maybe … would have seen some plays on the short yardage team. The best thing for Brett is that he was able to go to a team that he could actually PLAY for. Remember though folks, he wasn't even the best centre on the Stamps coming out of camp. The Stamps had trouble on the o-line so they moved Gott (arguably the best centre in the league) to guard and hoped that Jones would work out at centre.… Read more »
Paco, what planet are you on? Jones,led,the stamps to first place, least sacks, most yards and captained the offence when,three qbs and,best receiver went down. As for not,being best centre,out of camp, who cares. He was the best in the league within weeks. Get off the bath salts man!
