PATS 5 HURRICANES 2

A natural hattrick by Calgary Flames first-round pick Morgan Klimchuk helped propel the Regina Pats to a 5-2 victory over the Hurricanes in Lethbridge Wednesday evening before 2409 fans.  It was the first of eight straight road games for the Pats as they vacate the Brandt Centre for Agribition and Grey Cup.

Jesse Ngraggen opened the scoring for Regina in just Pats’ debut, just 3:46 into the game.  Klimchuk’s three consecutive goals put Regina up by a 4-0 score in the middle period.  They came via shorthanded, powerplay and even-strength!  Regina led 1-0 after one and 4-1 going into the third frame.

Dawson MacAuley made 30 saves in the Regina goal to collect the win while Corbin Boes of the Hurricanes took the loss making 41 stops.  Regina outshot Lethbridge 46-32 while going 1/2 on the powerplay and 4/6 on the penalty kill.

The Pats (10-9-0) visit the Seattle Thunderbirds in game two of the swing Saturday night at 9:00 pm on 620 CKRM (Press Box Sports Bar Pregame Show at 8:35 pm).

The boys played OK last night but should have won 10-0 as they were all over Lethbridge. The 2nd period wasn't too good and we took too many undisciplined penalties. The 60 min game is still elusive and Cameron referred to that on the post game comments. We will face some stiff opposition on this USA swing. I guess we will see… Read more »

They are asking a roster player, a high end prospect, and a 1st round pick. At that price, I'm hoping the Pats don't try too hard. Knowing Lethbridge though, they will likely get dooped into letting him go for far too little…

Probably Robson is calling Farwell in Seattle and asking to be taken advantage of again. I would imagine Pilon will go to a team that has extra 2nd and 3rd round picks and a deep roster. I doubt the Pats will be able to get in that sweepstakes.A win is always a win but you must be aware of who your beating. You can't read nothing into beating Lethbridge since everyone does. Four out of five teams out in the USA west have a higher winning % than Prince Albert and the other team Tri-Cities are tied with Swift Current.… Read more »
