SASK SHUTS DOWN SPORTS, SJHL ANNOUNCES INDEFINITE SUSPENSION OF PLAY

Saskatchewan is restricting the number of people allowed to sit at a single table in bars and restaurants to no more than four for the next three weeks.

Premier Scott Moe announced a slew of added public-health measures to try and reverse the rise in COVID-19 cases.

He says talks are underway to see whether his government will support businesses affected by the latest restrictions.

All team sports and group activities are suspended however athletes and dancers under the age of 18 may keep practicing in groups of eight or less if the appropriate health measures are followed.

Health officials are reporting 164 new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan.

Meanwhile the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League released the following statement on its website:

  • With the announcement today  by the Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will not be playing any games after Friday at 12:01am until after Christmas.  Once the SJHL receives direction from Saskatchewan Government and Saskatchewan Health as to when we can commence play an announcement will be made.
