RIDERS ANNOUNCE 2021 PLAZA OF HONOUR CLASS
The Saskatchewan Roughrider Plaza of Honour Committee has announced four new members will be inducted into the Plaza of Honour as the class of 2021. This year will be a celebration of Canadian talent as Chris Getzlaf and Andy Fantuz will have their names forever etched into Saskatchewan Roughriders history. The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ first black star, Gabe Patterson, will be inducted posthumously and for his tireless commitment to the Roughriders, Paul J. Hill, who spent more than 22 years on the Club’s Board and Management Council, will be inducted as a Builder.
The Plaza of Honour events, which are now overseen by the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation and a committee of volunteers, will include an additional piece going forward: the 13th Fan Breakfast presented by SaskTel.
This special event will happen the morning of the game, October 9th, and provides an opportunity for Roughrider fans to meet and mingle with the inductees and share in a special morning in honour of the Riders’ dedicated fan base filled with good food and good beverages. Look for a brand-new award to be announced in the coming weeks which will be handed out at breakfast. Tickets for the 13th Fan Breakfast are $40 and on sale now. The Plaza of Honour dinner will be a small, invitation-only fundraising event for the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation.
The annual Plaza of Honour has inducted 131 individuals who have made major contributions to the proud tradition of the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club. The Club has also inducted the 1966, 1989 and 2007 Grey Cup championship teams.

These men will get the honor of joining the all time best Saskatchewan Roughrider player in history, Mr. Kent Austin. Thank you Mr. Kent Austin for personally being responsible for three Grey Cup titles that CFL franchise holds, three out four, thats all time immortal greatness in professional sports. Welcome to the plaza gents.
PS, Mr. Austin should have a 10 ft. tall statue of his likeness outside the Roughriders stadium.
I get 1989 and I get 2007. Tell me the 3rd one?
There isn’t a third because he has no clue. Al Ford was the original. 1966 and GM 1989. Kent was and let’s be very honest here. 1989 that was a dual team with Tom Burgess and Kent gets way more credit than he should and Tom doesn’t get near enough credit. Tom went to Winnipeg the following year and won the 1990 Grey Cup. You want to know who the real deal is? Richie Hall. 1989, 2007, and 2013 and this man is NOT in the Roughrider Plaza of Honor. To me as the years have gone on I know… Read more »
Oh contraire Bozo the Cown_ O’bum’a). There was a third CFL Championship courtesy of Mr. Kent Austin. In 2013 he was the head coach of the opposing Hamilton Tiger Cats in the Grey Cup game. As directed by league collusion it was predetermined from the get go to let the poor sap Roughriders team win just to appease a long suffering pathetic fanbasenon home turf. Roger does have a clue.
Roger are you are a conspiracy theorist who hears voices telling you things? If so follow through on the instruction to fall asleep while smoking in bed.
Kent Austin and this love affair you all have with him. If you’ve seen Caddyshack the part where they are coming up with the match play game. Ted Knight tells Chevy Chase, “You’re father and I built this club Ty….face it some people don’t belong.”
Chevy replies, “My dad….never liked you.”
That’s Kent Austin’s xmas card to you guys.:)
We don’t care about no stinkin cards, Kent Austin da man in Sask.
Dear Russ from Saskatoon;
2013 Grey Cup win by the Roughriders, Mr. Kent Austin was the opposing head coach of the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Lol
Congratulations to Andy Fantuz a most deserving call. Pre-covid I was working on a project to get Phil Kershaw in as a Builder. The case was made. Phil’s groundwork 30 yrs later provided a foundation for what we see today. His advertising firm rebranded the modern logo. The financial results are evident. He dreamt big and hired Don Mathews. Phil also planted seeds that Regina could and should be hosting Grey Cups. Imagine all of this in a 1990s Saskatchewan landscape. The best thing is Phil was never one of the good ol boys. When you are that cool you… Read more »
