MONDAY COMMENTARY – SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT’S FALL, AND THAT MEANS BALL FOR ALL.
NO MATTER WHAT YOUR PLEASURE, BEGINNING THIS WEEK WE’VE GOT NFL, CFL, NCAA, USPORTS, JUNIOR AND HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ALL ON THE FIELD.
FOR ME, I ELECTED TO GO TO THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN AND AM IN MIAMI TODAY, ONE DAY AFTER THE DOLPHINS WERE ROUTED 35-0 BY THE BUFFALO BILLS AT HARDROCK STADIUM.
THE GAME COULD NOT HAVE GONE WORSE FROM A DOLPHINS PERSPECTIVE. QUARTERBACK TUA TAGOVAILOA WAS CARTED OFF THE FIELD IN THE FIRST QUARTER AND IT WENT DOWNHILL FROM THERE. PENALTIES, DROPPED PASSES AND MISSED TACKLES; THEY LOOKED LIKE A BAD HIGH SCHOOL TEAM.
BUT I WAS UNDAUNTED. I GOT TO TALK WITH DOLPHINS LINEBACKER SAM EGUAVOEN AFTER THE GAME AND GOT A MEETING WITH THE DOLPHINS FRONT OFFICE.
IT WAS A WIN FROM MY PERSPECTIVE.
ADD TO THAT THE FACT THAT EVERY NFL GAME IS LIKE A GREY CUP, AND YOU COME AWAY FEELING YOU GOT YOUR MONEY’S WORTH.
MEANWHILE IN SASK, THE ROUGHRIDERS TROUNCED TORONTO FRIDAY NIGHT 30-16 IN A GAME I CALLED A “SWING GAME”.
IT WAS A PIVOTAL ONE FOR SASKATCHEWAN, AND THEY PROVED THAT THEY ARE WHAT WE THOUGHT THEY WERE; A DOMINANT, EFFICIENT CLUB.
I DIDN’T WATCH IT ALL CUZ I FELL ASLEEP IN THE SECOND QUARTER OUT HERE IN THE EASTERN TIME ZONE, BUT I SAW THE RIDERS WON THE TURNOVER BATTLE 5-1.
THAT SHOULD WIN YOU A GAME EVERY TIME.
SO WITH THE ABSENCE OF ANYTHING ELSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT, I SEE PEOPLES’ ATTENTION TURNED TO THE ATTENDANCE FIGURE FROM FRIDAY NIGHT WHICH HAS BEEN PROJECTED TO BE BETWEEN 17,000-20,000.
THE FINGERS OF BLAME POINTED IN EVERY WHICH DIRECTION.
SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY
Roughriders still taking penalties, their undisaplined play has to be corrected. Only then will they be classified a efficient team, a good one at that.
When all is said and done_ bottom line, the CFLeague is in dire financial trouble. All CFLeague franchise financials should be front and center once the abbreviated 2021 season concludes. Fanbase attendance though no fault of their own has been very shoddy across the landscape.
Geeze I wish I was at the top of that food chain, nothing compares to the NFL. Maybe I should look into a trip to Minneapolis visit with family and rake in the Vikings, NHL Wild very soon. Have a good time, enjoy your stay in sunny Florida Mr Pedersen.
