MONDAY COMMENTARY – DROP THE PUCK!

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)

WE ARE BACK IN ALBERTA AND IT FEELS GREAT!

THE 2022 IIHF WORLD JUNIOR HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP OPENS THIS WEEK IN EDMONTON AND THE ROD PEDERSEN SHOW WILL BE BROADCASTING LIVE HERE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

TODAY WE’LL BE AT THE POSH RIVER CREE RESORT & CASINO BEFORE MOVING THE SHOW INTO ROGERS PLACE ON TUESDAY, HOME OF THE EDMONTON OILERS.

YES, CONNOR MCDAVID’S HOUSE.

BUT FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, IT’LL BE HOME TO ANOTHER CONNOR: CANADA’S CONNOR BEDARD.

UNFORTUNATELY, IN A BIT OF A SURPRISE MOVE, DAEMON HUNT OF THE MOOSE JAW WARRIORS WON’T PLAY IN THE TOURNAMENT AFTER BEING RULED OUT DUE TO INJURY.

THAT’S A MAJOR DRAG FOR ALL INVOLVED, INCLUDING DAEMON’S FATHER DOUG HUNT OF BRANDON WHO WAS ALREADY TEXTING ME ABOUT MEETING UP IN EDMONTON DURING THE TOURNEY.

I’M SURE WE’LL STILL MEET UP, BUT AGAIN IT’S UNFORTUNATE FOR DAEMON TO BE DENIED ANOTHER CHANCE TO PLAY FOR HIS COUNTRY. CANADA COULD’VE USED HIM.

FORTUNATELY HE’S ALREADY SIGNED AND SEALED WITH THE MINNESOTA WILD, JUST NOT DELIVERED.

IT’S A HOCKEY TOURNAMENT, IN AUGUST. THERE AREN’T MANY OF THOSE, ESPECIALLY AT THIS LEVEL OR OF THIS CALIBRE.

THOSE WHO KNOW ME BEST KNOW THIS IS RIGHT DOWN MY ALLEY AND IT’S AN HONOUR TO HAVE BEEN INVITED TO BE HERE.

TODAY’S ANOTHER MORNING WHERE I WOKE UP ASKING, “HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY?”

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm ET & 10 pm PT on Game+ TV across Canada and the USA. Call your cable provider for details. You can also watch on YouTube Live or listen 24/7 at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive)
