TUESDAY RUNDOWN: NFL PREVIEW, FAJARDO STARTS & HABS OUTLOOK
It was a more hectic Tuesday episode than most on The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – on Game+ TV. Read on for the rundown!:
- RP & Moose Dupont kicked off The Warmup with these Quick Six show topics: 1) Former Blue Bomber Chris Streveler rallies the NY Jets to a 24-16 win over Atlanta on preseason Monday Night Football, 2) Cody Fajardo will start at QB for Sask in Week 12 at BC, 3) What’s the outlook for the Montreal Canadiens in 2022-23? (Viewers forecast more misery), 4) Baker Mayfield wins the starting QB job for the Carolina Panthers, 5) The Blue Jays open a key 3-game series at Boston on Tuesday night, and 6) More CFL notes including if the playoffs began today in a Top 6 format, Winnipeg & BC would have byes in the first round while Montreal would visit Calgary and Toronto would visit Sask.
- The hosts outlined that moving forward they’ll take a look at one NHL team per day and on Tuesday it was the Montreal Canadiens. The topic drew wild reaction from across the country, particularly from Ontario NHL fans! The crew also pledged to cover tons of NFL and CFL.
- Radio legend Mike Richards from Sauga 960 Radio joined the show and said his heart aches for the CFL and Oakville’s Nathan Rourke who suffered a significant injury for the BC Lions last week. Richards said that’s the buzz around his circles, along with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills who many in Southern Ontario feel will romp to the AFC championship game. Regarding the Toronto Maple Leafs, Richards feels they’re a “fragile” team entering training camp.
- Moose rejoined the program for Hour 2 and the crew examined what it means for a team to be “fragile”. Rod said his definition is “lacking confidence” and pointed to many teams in that state including the Roughriders. It was an entertaining chat.
- Canada’s foremost NFL expert Jim Lang joined the show for an extended segment and answered tons of viewer questions entering this season including the hype surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina’s chances with Baker Mayfield, how could the Jets get any worse?, can Russell Wilson turn the Denver Broncos around all my himself?, and why Jim thinks Cincinnati will repeat as AFC champs. If you missed the segment, you’ll want to check it out on YouTube!
- Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Victor Cui. Tuesday’s was Jim Lang.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should the CFL change its playoff format to go with the Top 6 teams rather than East-West? At press time 71% of respondents said yes.
