THURSDAY RUNDOWN: J.T. O’SULLIVAN, CANUCKS, MORE ON MARINO
Christmas Day for NFL fans has arrived and we previewed Week 1 with an NFL vet, looked in on the Vancouver Canucks and covered all the other hottest sports news on Thursday’s Episode #837 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Read on for the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The 103rd NFL season kicks off Thursday night with the Bills at Rams. Who ya got?, 2) The Blue Jays beat the Orioles 4-1, 3) The Braves knock off the A’s 7-3 but lose ground in the NL East, 4) CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie warns teams not to sign Garrett Marino, 5) Deal or No Deal in Week 13 of the CFL for Bet Regal – BC (-3.5) at Montreal, Toronto (-2) at Toronto, Sask at Winnipeg (-7.5) and Calgary (-10) at Edmonton, and 6) A preview of the Vancouver Canucks season.
- On the latest Garrett Marino news, Rod wonders why Marino was allowed to play in Week 12 but isn’t allowed to play again in the CFL? Moose feels the mandate from Ambrosie was a safe/political move knowing teams likely aren’t going to sign Marino anyway.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who wins on opening night in the NFL – Bills or Rams? At press time over 70% of respondents opted for Buffalo.
- Olympic gold and bronze medallist mens bobsledder Justin Kripps joined the show from Calgary and announced his retirement from competitive bobsleigh. Justin explained the difficult decision, said he’d like to get into coaching, recapped his summer wedding in San Diego and reflected on his career.
- In Hour 2 we were joined by 9-year NFL veteran quarterback and former Saskatchewan Roughrider J.T. O’Sullivan from San Diego. J.T. gave an expansive look at Week 1 in the NFL and regarding QBs facing their former teams in Week 1 (Baker Mayfield versus Cleveland and Russell Wilson versus Seattle), and who has the edge in those scenarios, he said it comes out as a wash. O’Sullivan talked about his first NFL touchdown pass going to Calvin Johnson, reflected on his time in the CFL and pumped the tires of Calgary quarterback Jake Maier, a fellow UC-Davis grad.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was former Blue Jays coach Tim Leipert. Thursday’s was J.T. O’Sullivan!
