FRIDAY COMMENTARY – ARE YOU GOING?
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 & Rock 98.5 FM)
IT’S FRIDAY AND WE’RE GONNA PLAY THE GOOD, THE GREAT AND THE UGLY!
FIRST, THE GOOD: THE 103RD NFL SEASON KICKED OFF THURSDAY NIGHT IN L.A. AND IT WAS QUITE A GAME! THE HOMETOWN RAMS – THE DEFENDING SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS – NEVER SCORED A SECOND HALF POINT AS THE BUFFALO BILLS WENT ON TO A 31-10 ROUT.
THE GAME IS BEING DISSECTED ENDLESSLY, AND IT SHOULD! THE NFL IS BACK, AND THERE’S NOTHING BIGGER ON THE CONTINENT.
I’M EXCITED TO ATTEND THE PATRIOTS AND DOLPHINS ON SUNDAY IN MIAMI.
NEXT, THE GREAT: FRANKLY, IT’S THE SASKATCHEWAN SPORTS SCENE. THE U OF R RAMS ARE COMING OFF AN UPSET VICTORY AT MANITOBA LAST WEEK AND TONIGHT ARE HOME TO THE CALGARY DINOS IN THEIR CANADA WEST HOME-OPENER. MEANWHILE THE SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES WELCOME UBC.
HOW BIG OF CROWDS CAN THESE PROGRAMS GET TONIGHT? THE CHALLENGE IS ON YOU.
ADD TO THAT THE FACT THE PATS AND ESTEVAN BRUINS HAVE ANNOUNCED CONNOR BEDARD WILL PLAY IN TUESDAY’S EXHIBITION GAME VERSUS SWIFT CURRENT IN ESTEVAN, AND IT JUST REVVED UP THE ENERGY CITY.
BEDARD’S A 17-YEAR OLD ELVIS.
AND LASTLY, THE UGLY: WE HAVEN’T HEARD THE LAST OF THE GARRETT MARINO SITUATION; AT LEAST FOR NOW.
THE RIDERS’ RELEASE OF THE CONTROVERSIAL PLAYER ON TUESDAY HAS BEEN TALKED ABOUT EVERY DAY AND THAT’LL SPILL INTO THE WEEKEND WHEN SASKATCHEWAN VISITS WINNIPEG IN THE BANJO BOWL.
WHY? BECAUSE WE’RE ALL WONDERING IF IT’S A CASE OF “ADDITION BY SUBTRACTION”.
THE RIDERS HAVE FELT MARINO MAKES THEM A BETTER TEAM; AT LEAST UNTIL THIS WEEK THEY DID.
SO SASK GOES INTO IG FIELD ON SATURDAY AS A 7.5-POINT UNDERDOG ACCORDING TO OUR BETTING PARTNER BET REGAL.
THERE HASN’T BEEN A TON GO RIGHT FOR THE RIDERS OF LATE BUT THEIR SUPPORTERS FEEL AFTER ANOTHER TENSE WEEK AND THE CUTTING LOOSE OF THE MARINO DISTRACTION, THEY’RE PRIMED FOR A WIN.
TIME WILL TELL.
THIS IS WHY WE PLAY THE GAMES.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY
