WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: LANG, LU AND PLENTY MORE

Wednesday’s Episode #841 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment – was rollicking good fun and we covered it ALL on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup and Rod said Wednesday’s show would be similar to our school days when the teacher said, “I didn’t prepare a lesson so let’s have Show & Tell!” The viewers & listeners had a ball, but there was some structure with these Quick Six show topics: 1) Gisele Bundchen opens up about strife with her husband Tom Brady and Rod said, unfortunately, you can start the clock, 2) The Blue Jays split a doubleheader with the Rays, 3) Aaron Judge COULD set the AL homerun record, 4) The Braves beat the Giants 5-1, 5) Rumour is the owner of the Regina Pats doesn’t want to trade Connor Bedard! (Rod said that’s a mistake), and 6) A primer for Week 15 in the CFL.
  • The topics ran the gamut including previews of the NHL’s Flames & Senators seasons, Roy Shivers’ legacy with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (he’s going into the CFHOF this week), who will be the next TV voice of the Winnipeg Jets and who will replace Sarah Orlesky, this week’s US College and Canadian University football games, and Bedard’s dazzling moves in Tuesday’s Pats preseason game against Swift Current in Estevan.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 15 of the CFL season – Edmonton at Sask, Winnipeg at Hamilton or BC at Calgary? At press time the Lions/Stampeders were leading by a wide margin!
  • TSN Montreal’s John Lu joined the show for an Alouettes & Canadiens update. John said the Als’ Week 14 blowout win over BC was their most complete game of the season however there’s still work to do. Regarding the Alouettes ownership saga, John reported there seems to be no appetite for the team to be sold. Regarding Nick Suzuki being named the youngest-ever captain of the Canadiens on Monday, John said the move has the complete endorsement of the Canadiens players and that Suzuki is mature beyond his years. Lu also said that while many feel the Canadiens will be in very tough to make the playoffs – more likely to be in on the #1 overall pick – the Habs players believe they can achieve the postseason.

  • In Hour 2 we were joined by Canada’s foremost NFL expert Jim Lang for a deep dive into Week 1 and a look ahead to Week 2. Jim was most impressed by Pittsburgh’s OT win at Cincinnati and said the Steelers aren’t dead despite the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. As is usually the case, Jim took plenty of questions from viewers and it included the Week 1 showings of the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins and his Las Vegas Raiders. Lang also previewed the Week 2 opener with the Chargers at the Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Nik Lewis. Wednesday’s was John Lu!
