TUESDAY RUNDOWN: BENTON ON KRAKEN, GURLEY ON NFL & MUCH MORE

Tuesday was the kind of day that makes daytime TV sports talk so great! There was loads of breaking news and on-the-spot analysis on Episode #845 of The RP Show on Game+ TV. Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it all off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Three NHL greats announced their retirements Tuesday morning – Zdeno Chara, P.K. Subban and Keith Yandle. The panel gave their memories of them all, and Rod recalled Chara coming into the Agridome with the Prince George Cougars in 1995, 2) On Monday Night Football the Bills shellacked the Titans 41-7 and the Eagles flew past the Vikings 24-7, 3) CFL playoff scenarios, 4) Who will win a Stanley Cup first – the Golden Knights or Kraken?, 5) The Blue Jays open a series at the Phillies and 6) Coverage of Aaron Judge’s AL homerun record pursuit.
  • As always the guys mixed in plenty of CFL talk including Craig Dickenson’s admission the Riders “aren’t very good”, the Stamps/Lions skirmish, will the Riders turn it around?, and a look at the CFL’s Week 16 games.

  • Seattle Kraken radio host Mike Benton joined the show and explained why the team will take a big leap this year (specifically the additions of Oliver Bjorkstrand and Andre Burakovsky, and goalie coach Steve Briere). Mike admitted Vegas is probably in line to win a Stanley Cup ahead of their expansion cousins, the Kraken, and said it’s interesting to follow the two teams’ philosophies.
  • NFL/NCAA analyst Tori Gurley joined the show in Hour 2 and discussed South Carolina’s humiliating loss to Georgia in Week 3. Tori’s former team, the Buffalo Bills, are demolishing everything in their path and he feels they are by far the best team in the AFC. He predicts a Bills beatdown in Miami this Sunday. Gurley also explained his new role as scout with the Reese’s Senior Bowl which will be played February 4 in Mobile, AL.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which NHL player who retired today did you enjoy watching the most? At press time, Zdeno Chara was way out in front.
  • Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDay Supply Chain Solutions was Dean Millard. Tuesday’s was Tori Gurley!
