FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: CFL, NFL PREVIEWS & LIBERTY BOWL!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we had a ball previewing a big weekend on Friday’s Episode #858 of the RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV and WQEE Radio! Here’s the rundown:

• As is the tradition, RP and Moose kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A recap of Thursday’s NHL preseason play including Florida’s 3-2 win over Tampa (Rod noted the Lightning are 0-4 in the preseason but NO ONE’S CONCERNED), 2) The MLB Wild Card Playoff series open on Friday, 3) The Colts beat the Broncos 12-9 in OT on Thursday Night Football, 4) It’s the Riders at the Ticats on Friday Night Football, 5) Previews of the rest of the CFL’s Week 18 games, 6) Canada West Football is off for Thanksgiving!
• Ottawa RedBlacks voice A.J. Jakubec joined the show from practice at TD Place to discuss the coaching change with his club and preview Monday’s game at Montreal. A.J. feels the team should be better than its 3-11 record and a lot of fans feel the club waited too long to fire Paul LaPolice. Jakubec expects an improved effort under Bob Dyce on Monday. A.J. also gave his thoughts on the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings and OHL’s Ottawa 67’s seasons as he is a junior hockey enthusiast, like Rod.
• In Hour 2 the guys played NFL Deal or No Deal for Week 5, previewing the match-ups and betting lines from our exclusive betting partner Bet Regal. They also discussed the Tua Tagovailoa concussion controversy and discussed the Canada West standings.
• AutoZone Liberty Bowl Executive Director Steve Ehrhart joined the show from Memphis. The original USFL Commissioner and former President of the Colorado Rockies talked about how pro and college football have come out of the pandemic, previewed the 63rd Liberty Bowl, discussed Memphis football legend Kent Austin, and Ehrhart explained his role in CFL U.S. expansion in the 1990s. He feels the path is there for future U.S. expansion if the CFL wants it! Regarding the demise of the USFL, Ehrhart said we can thank Donald Trump!
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: What’s the better spice – Pumpkin or Gingerbread? At press time, Pumpkin had 60% of the vote.
• Hockey player Dani Dureau of the Pilot Butte Storm U15AA Female team joined the show to discuss her team’s season, her own career, her older brother Jaydon of the Tampa Bay Lightning organization and thanked Bronco Plumbing, Heating & Cooling – also an RP Show sponsor – for their support of their program.
• Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Dave Babych. Friday’s was Steve Ehrart.
