WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: NHL, CFL, NLL, AHL, WHL, RODEO AND …

Was there a sport we didn’t cover on Wednesday’s Episode #879 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino on Game+ TV and WQEE? Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NHL Morning Skate – Oilers & Jets win, Flames & Leafs lose, 2) RP’s NHL Top 5 are VGK – BOS – NJD – WPG – DAL, 3) The Bottom 5 are STL – OTT – CBJ – ANA – SJ, 4) The Maple Missile Kurtis Rourke lights it up again for the NCAA’s Ohio Bobcats (who came up with this nickname?), 5) CFL Notes – Bo passes the torch in Calgary, and 6) Dub Hub including Winnipeg toppling Red Deer and the Pats hosting Edmonton Wednesday night.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL – EDF Montreal at Toronto or WDF BC at Winnipeg? At press time over 90% of respondents said Lions/Bombers.
  • Legendary hockey, rodeo & chuckwagon announcer Arnie Jackson joined the show and discussed many things including the Flames’ 6-game losing streak. Arnie figures the team is still getting used to each other 12 games in after a rash of off-season changes. Arnie recapped last week’s Canadian Finals Rodeo in Red Deer and previewed next month’s National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas which will feature a record 10 Canadians. Jackson also unveiled a plan for Calgary & Edmonton to host the 2030 Winter Olympics and told stories of broadcasting games for Canada’s Mens National Team. Arnie also touched on the legacy of Bo Levi Mitchell in Calgary.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by the Vice President of the Calgary Wranglers, Calgary Hitmen and Calgary Roughnecks Mike Moore of Calgary Sports & Entertainment Corp. Rod and Mike have been friends since 1995 and “Mooresie” talked about league business across the AHL, WHL & NLL and said their immediate task is filling seats and introducing the AHL to the Calgary market. Mike discussed his longtime sports career and said the fun challenge is always finding new ways to entertain fans.
  • Moose returned to preview Wednesday night’s NHL, NBA, WHL and CFB schedule and this weekend’s Hardy Cup in Saskatoon between the Huskies and Thunderbirds. A viewer in Illinois on Game+ TV wrote in to ask why the RP Show gets pre-empted halfway through nightly for Heat Of The Night? (We have no idea).
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Bryn Roy. Wednesday’s was Arnie Jackson!
  • If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/12 am CT on Game+ TV, on our YouTube Channel or from your favourite podcast platform.
